China Glaze: Turned Up Turquoise and Your Touch

Hi all! I hope your week is off to a good start. I went to Sally Beauty this weekend and added a couple new colors to my collection. The China Glaze polishes were 2 for $11, so I got a couple AND used my birthday coupon. I already had 2 China Glaze polishes, from the Hologlam collection, but I have not used them.

First up is Turned Up Turquoise, a green turquoise with microshimmer that dries matte (that was surprising). My camera could not capture the true color of the polish, but let me tell you, it is greener than the picture shows.

China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise

The formula for Turned Up Turquoise was okay to work with. The first coat was a bit streaky, so I added a second. After a 3rd coat, it was almost opaque. My problem with it was that it would not self level. You might be able to see that it is uneven in the picture above. The one thing I loved was that Turned Up Turquoise dries incredibly fast. I didn't have to wait very long between coats, and it was dry to the touch after just a couple minute. I did like the brush - it was small and easy to control.

Here is Your Touch, a brownish red shimmer.

China Glaze Your Touch

The formula for Your Touch was a little thick. I applied a thin coat and it was opaque. It is definitely a one-coater. I added a second coat, since my mistakes were visible, but I should've stuck with one. Even with thin coats, it was still tacky, even 10 minutes after application.

Overall, I'm not particularly thrilled with these purchases. I love both colors, but the formula was not what I was expecting. I'd always imagined China Glaze polishes to have a great formula, but this was not the case. Maybe I bought bad batches, and it's not what people normally experience with this brand.

Have you ever been disappointed by a brand? If so, did you continue to use it, or did it become part of your hardly-worn collection?
