New York Color: Fashion Queen 2014 Fall Collection

Hi all! I have a new post for you today, swatches of the NYC Fashion Queen 2014 Fall Collection. It's a little late, given that fall is well over, but I hadn't really used any of the colors (I did use Crown Gold for UCLA nail art). I loved them all, and I'm disappointed that it took me this long to try them out!

First up is Royal Chic, a chocolate brown creme with a glossy finish.  The formula was a bit on the runny side. The first coat was a little patchy/streaky, so I applied a second. It wasn't entirely smooth, but that was fixed with a third coat. I learned the hard way it'll dry fast only if the coats are ultra thin. The coats I applied weren't thick, but not very thin either, so it took a long time to dry.

Next up is Queen of the City, a dark red/plum with a shimmery finish. I used 2 coats. I felt that the formula was also on the runny side. The first coat was a little sheer, but fully opaque with a second. This is where I learned that coats had to be ultra thin to dry completely.

Here I have Crown Gold,  a shimmery gold color. The formula was okay to work with. The first coat I applied was very thin and a bit sheer, but it dried fast. The second coat was opaque, but it did have a frosty finish, and imperfections are a little visible.

Next, I have the Crystal Couture shades. Blue Majesty is one of my favorites. It's a bright blue jelly with blue glitter mixed in. The first coat was a little sheer and patchy. The second wasn't very opaque, so a third was necessary. Again, very thin coats are best for a fast drying time. I LOVE Blue Majesty. It's so bright and sparkly...I seriously felt like there was a party on my nails.

Rule the City is a dark gray shimmery base with red microglitter. The first coat was nearly opaque, not sheer like the previous polishes. It was definitely darker after I added the second coat. I applied a third coat - just to see if it made a difference - but it really didn't. Two coats are enough.

NY Princess is a grape purple jelly base with purple glitter. It was sheer, even after 2 coats, so a third was necessary. I like it, but it is not as bright as Blue Majesty (which I think is my favorite in the collection).

Queen's Jewels is a green jelly with green and silver glitter. I built up opacity with three coats. It's just like Blue Majesty, but green. I LOVE it as well, and it also reminds me of Penny's dress (from Happy Endings). It feels like another party on my hands. It did stain my nails just a tiny bit, so I can imagine that it might stain more if I left it on for more than a day or so.

Penny's dress is a little darker, but it's sparkly and shiny and I want it.

Fashion Queen has a fine gold/orange microshimmer base with gold glitter. Again, the first coat was sheer, but opaque after a 3rd coat. I thought it would be very similar to SinfulColors All About You, but I like it more.

Ruby Queen has a red jelly base, with small red glitter and slightly larger purple glitter. It was the same as with the others - first coat was sheer, but opacity built up with a couple more coats. It's not as bright or exciting as Blue Majesty or Queen's Jewels, but it is still a great color.

Overall, I'm in love with this collection. The colors are all perfect for fall (and other seasons as well). I love the Crystal Couture colors, particularly Blue Majesty and Queen's Jewels. They just scream "fun" to me. I will definitely be using these a lot more. They're sheer enough to be used with another color, but they are great on their own.

Did you get this collection? Did you like them all, or did you have a favorite? Let me know!
