Happy Monday!! Did you all enjoy the Super Bowl yesterday? Did your team win? I was kinda going for the Seahawks (West Coast represent!), but that didn't happen. That interception at the end...wow! (I'm still learning about the football, so I always ask Chris a million questions during each game.)
Today, I decided to try a dotticure. I mean, I have the supplies and all. I chose 2 of my hardly used New York Color polishes, Tudor City Teal and Lexington Lilac, from their Long Wearing Enamel line. Here is the final result.
Tudor City Teal is a minty teal crelly. The first coat was a little sheer and streaky. In the end, I needed 3 coats for opacity. Dry time was a little slow, but each coat dried progressively faster than the previous one.
On my ring finger, I used Lexington Lilac. I think it looks more like a French mauve shade than lilac. It is a creme, and I only needed 2 coats. The first dried fast, and so did the second coat. I didn't have any issues with the formula.
For the dots, I used one of my dotting tools. As you can see, the dots aren't exactly centered. This was my first time using a dotting tool, and it looks like it's something that will need some improvement.
Overall, I'm pleased with the look. It's extremely easy/simple, but adds a little more to your manicure.
On a related note, I just started using a new product. My nails have been peeling and breaking like crazy. My Essie base coat has not really helped (mostly because I haven't used it very much), so I went to Target and purchased Burt's Bees cuticle cream. So far, I am loving it. It's keeping my cuticles looking nice and moisturized, and it isn't oily or greasy. This is why my cuticles look a little different in the picture above. I typically applied olive oil, but I don't think it helped much, if at all. I hope my new cuticle cream helps, because the weather just took a dive in Kansas. I hate how dry my hands get, so if I can eat least keep my nails from falling apart, that would be good.
I hope you are all having a good day!
