Okay, so let me start at the beginning. Chris and I picked up tickets for an autograph session with Matt Besler (USMNT and Sporting Kansas City defender, #5) on Tuesday. I knew that I would have to have some nail art to mark the occasion, so this is what I did.
To start off, these are the colors I used.
NYC Boat Basin, WnW French White Creme, SinfulColors Ruby Ruby, Bright Lucite, and New Wave |
I applied my base colors and added one coat of Nina Ultra Pro Super Dry Top Coat because it dries very quickly.
For my pinky and thumb, I cut a piece of painter's tape in the shape of Sporting's home jersey design. Then I applied New Wave.
(Now, this is where I realized that I needed to do this faster, which is why I forgot to take pictures, but I do have one of my completed mani at the end.)
On my index finger, I put 3 strips of tape horizontally on my nail and used New Wave once again. This was in the style of Sporting's away jersey.
(I turned around at one point, and I saw my Lady. She was waiting for me to throw her rhino, and I had no idea she was there lol. She's adorable, isn't she?)
My middle and ring fingers were going to be my US-themed fingers. I cut thin strips of tape and used tweezers to put them on my ring finger to create red and white stripes (US flag). Then I used two more pieces of tape to create a rectangle, which I painted with Boat Basin. I added little white dots with a toothpick to represent the stars.
On my ring finger, I used Ruby Ruby and Boat Basin, which were the colors/design of the USMNT's jersey at the World Cup. Using the toothpick, I added the number 5 in white to the red section.
This was the final result. Unfortunately, my top coat smeared New Wave on my index finger and the 5 on my middle finger. Definitely disappointing. Overall, it could've been better, but I learned for next time!
