It's been a long, long time

Well, it has been ages since I was last active here.

Funny story, I thought my blog was lost forever. Ages ago I'd purchased the custom domain "nailswithnessa.com"; so every time I typed that in, it took me to someone's online store. I had no luck with "nailswithnessa.blogspot.com" - it redirected to that person's online store as well.

Well, I finally managed to log back in and realized that I never removed the custom domain from my settings, even after I decided not to renew, so my blogspot address was set to redirect to the custom domain. I removed it and voila! I can see all my posts and photos. Which is amazing, because I lost all my original photos after my cat spilled a glass of water and killed my laptop several years ago.

I recently got the urge to start doing my nails again, so here I am. Below is a recent mani from LA Colors Mermaid Magic. I found Mermaid at Walmart and had to have it. I used three coats; it was opaque in two, but I went for three, not sure why. I topped with Ella+Mila In A Rush top coat; it chipped in a couple of days. Next time I'll keep it at two.

Mermaid is incredibly sparkly and gorgeous - at $2 you can't go wrong!

NYC Quick Dry: Columbus Circle Crimson + Big City Dazzle

Hi all! Well, it has been quite some time since I last posted. I haven't really done my nails in a while, since I got too busy with other things, but I did try to take care of them in other ways by, filing and moisturizing regularly.

It was Chris' birthday a couple weeks ago, and we celebrated by going to the US - Panamá game at Sporting Park in Kansas City. Though we enjoyed ourselves, it was a long day. It was 96° and the sun was beating down on our section for three hours. I now have a shorts tan line on my legs lol. Good news though: we found out that a Fuddruckers is opening right next to Sporting Park, and I am super excited!

I finally decided to add some color to my fingertips, and tonight I went with New York Color Quick Dry Columbus Circle Crimson. I've used it before - it is a darker red creme that dries relatively fast. I used 3 coats in the picture below.

FingerPaints: Expressionist Red

Hi all! I'm so sorry I've been away. A few things happened since the last time I posted.

A couple weeks ago, Chris got sick, and I came down with something not long afterwards. It was a miserable week. Then, I randomly decided that I really, REALLY wanted to take (kick)boxing classes, so I signed up at the TITLE Boxing Club here in Lawrence. I started on Monday, and it was so intense. The instructor is one win away from qualifying for the Olympic Trials, so this class was definitely challenging. I've been going every day, and I've had a different instructor each time, but I've loved every minute of it. Because of this, nail polish/blogging took a hit, but I promise that I'll try to get back on track.

Today, I have a new color. I visited Sally Beauty last week and picked up a couple bottles, since they're having the BOGO Free FingerPaints sale. I have here Expressionist Red, a bright red creme.

ZOYA: Paloma

It's Wednesday, so the week is half over! I hope everyone is having a good week, and that it's warm and sunny where you are. We had a bit of snow today, but not too bad.

About a month ago, I placed an order with ZOYA when they were having that special: pay $15 shipping, and get 3 regular shades, plus 3 surprise minis. I finally got mine a couple days ago, and I was very excited. The first color I tried was Paloma, a berry jelly. I used 3 coats in the photo below.

NYC Dotticure: Tudor City Teal + Lexington Lilac

Happy Monday!! Did you all enjoy the Super Bowl yesterday? Did your team win? I was kinda going for the Seahawks (West Coast represent!), but that didn't happen. That interception at the end...wow! (I'm still learning about the football, so I always ask Chris a million questions during each game.)

Today, I decided to try a dotticure. I mean, I have the supplies and all. I chose 2 of my hardly used New York Color polishes, Tudor City Teal and Lexington Lilac, from their Long Wearing Enamel line. Here is the final result.

New York Color: Sweet Melon (Summer 2014 City Samba Collection)

Hi all! Time to celebrate, because it's Friday! I do work tomorrow, but Chris and I are going to a meeting at Sporting Park for the members of the Cauldron right after I get out. I'm really excited, because I love Sporting and because it'll be a chance for me to be social!

On a recent trip to my local Dollar Tree, I found something I had looked for, but never found. I stumbled upon Sweet Melon from New York Color's limited edition summer collection. (I also found Copabanana and Jacaranda Flower, but I'll try those another time).

Sweet Melon is an orange-peachy color with a microshimmer finish. I used 2 coats in the photo below.

SinfunColors: Feel the Vibe

Hi all! I hope your week has been going well. The weather in Kansas has been gorgeous since the weekend. It's been in the 50s and 60s, and we've enjoyed some time outside with the girls. It was very nice to be able to play with them again, throwing their ball/frisbee and watch them go crazy with excitement/happiness. (It's also very nice having tired dogs ;) )

I have a bright color, an orange cream (though a little part of me thinks it's very crelly-like). It's more of a spring/summer shade for me, but with the weather so nice and the sun actually making an appearance, I had to go with something more vivid.

Red Jelly Sandwich

Hi all! Happy Sunday! We didn't watch football today, since the Cowboys were knocked out last week, so we had a mini 24 marathon. It's one of my favorite shows ever, and I was finally able to convince Chris to continue watching Day 3.

Today, I went with a jelly sandwich using SinfulColors Ruby Ruby and NYC Pink Bling. Here is the final result.

SinfulColors Endless Blue + NYC Tribeca Silver

Hi all! Sorry I've been away for a few days. I had a long week and didn't really have a chance to have some polish fun, but I am back! I have here what is supposed to be simple nail art, but it's not my best work.

I used Endless Blue and Tribeca Silver for this look. Here is the final result.

FingerPaints Monet Money + SinfulColors All About You

Hi all! I hope your week is off to a good start. My Monday was just like everyone else's - back to work (I don't normally work on Mondays). I was looking forward to doing my nails tonight. I've gotten into the bad habit of not wearing a top coat sometimes, so Pleasure Pier didn't last all that long (even though it's supposed to be Megalast, but don't get me started). I had no idea what to do, but I finally settled on Monet Money, which I've only used once.

Here is the final result, 2 coats of Monet Money, followed by one coat of Sinful's All About You.

Wet n Wild: Halloween 2014 Limited Ediction Collection: Pleasure Pier

Hi all! Happy Sunday! Chris is nervous as he watches his beloved Cowboys against the Packers. Apparently, the Packers are the favorites. Well, I'm hoping for the best, but I'll be ready to comfort Chris if things don't go their way.

I have Pleasure Pier, an electric blue shimmer, from Wet n Wild's Halloween Collection. It doesn't really strike me as a Halloween color. When I think of that day, colors like black, orange, red, yellow, and brown come to mind. I used 2 coats in the picture below.

China Glaze: Boundary of Memory (The Giver Collection)

Hi all! I hope you are all having a good weekend so far! Chris and I spent the day relaxing, and we did make a grocery run. Now he's playing Destiny. I love playing, and I love watching him play almost as much. He's so good, and always knows what he's doing. I, on the other hand, am still learning.

On to polish! Tonight, I have for you Boundary of Memory from the China Glaze The Giver Collection. I got it on clearance when I last went to Sally Beauty, and it is a stunner! Boundary of Memory is a clear base packed with black, silver, and gold glitter.
